Paris – Day 5

I made plans to meet a friend for today at 12:15pm in the Montparnasse train station, so we met, and I haven't seen her in over 7 years! We met in Dornach at a youth conference when I was still in high school, and she's from São Paulo, Brazil.
It was a wonderful reunion. We made the train to Versailles and we talked about what we were up to since we last saw each other! I'll call her Juliette… she has really improved her English! It's quite impressive! I went to go visit her about 7 years ago in Brazil, and she couldn't speak a word of English, so I was really happy we could communicate!

We arrived in the station to Versailles and I was starving, so I picked up some Chinese food. We walked toward the golden gates of Versailles, and ate my lunch while waiting in line! It was longer than the Louvre, now I think the line to the Louvre is nothing!

Once we got in, we began walking with the masses through the halls and it was amazing to really have an awareness that King Louis VIII had some money! Everything was so glamorous and so wealthy. It was maybe a tiny sickening… but it was also beautiful!

While waiting, I met some people who we hung around with for a bit while roaming the halls, but lost them when the crowds got more congested. They came from a French island off the coast of Africa. It's fun reaching out and talking more with strangers, I'm learning to do that more and more….

Around 5:00pm headed out of the palace and tried to get into the gardens, but that's a separate ticket, but was able to get an idea of the gardens.

This was from one the rooms within the palace. The hall of mirrors was of course quite intense, but I imagined it differently. Not more, but just differently.

We were both exhausted, but accidently took the wrong way home, so we had to go all the way back to our original station, but it adds for a good story. Now we're sitting in a small Crêperie… Writing to you, while Juliette is drawing!
